Park County Locations Guide (Winter and Spring) ❄️

Updated: Dec 29, 2024

Snowy sessions are the best! It's our goal to recommend spots that are just as accessible as they are beautiful this time of year. Some spots we included involve hiking

for the more adventurous individuals. If they do we make sure to let you know in the description!

Fairplay

Open Space Near Buffalo Springs Campground

This location is right off of HWY 285 and doesn’t require a hike, although you can trek a few minutes to get into the trees if you’d like. It is a wonderful location if you’d like a view of the mountains but don’t want to drive or hike far.

Fairplay Beach

This location features a nice path with lots of pine trees and a small view of the mountains. It is very accessible with ample parking. If you’d like to move a bit there is a short loop you can take or you can take photos pretty much right when you get out of the car.

Alma

Mosquito Pass Pull Off

This location is amazing because it provides big mountain views without any hiking! The road to get there is accessible even in winter months and there is enough parking for at least 2-3 cars. The biggest downside is the long drive on a bumpy dirt road to get there. There are power lines as pictured, however, they will be blurred out in the background and can be removed from most of your final photos if you’d like.

Alma Park

This location is right in the heart of Alma and is very accessible. Since its next to the park you will likely see others during your photoshoot. You’ll have to walk 1-2 minutes into the field to get to the best spot for photos with the view. It does tend to be a windy location, so if you’d choose this spot we will keep an eye on the wind speeds the day of your session and postpone or use your back-up date as needed.

Alma State Wildlife Area

This location is beautiful and accessible in wintertime. There are multiple different mountain peaks visible depending on the direction you’re facing. There is a public restroom as well.

Hoosier Pass

Great for any type of session

Hoosier Pass is very accessible with plenty of parking and lots of beautiful pine trees along with a small view of the mountains. Due to the elevation this spot stays snowy from November until May. It very popular for taking photos so you will most likely see at least a few people during your session.

Tarryall Reservoir

Great for any type of session

We don’t have photos here from the winter yet but we’ve heard from other locals that it’s absolutely beautiful in colder months! If you check the Google link below there are a couple photos people have posted from wintertime. We’ve had a session here in the fall and we love the rolling hills, craggy rocks along with the beauty of the lake.
